How to age parts of the guitar

To get that uber – vintage look that everybody wants, you need to age the looks of the guitar. you could start by knowing how to age the hardware. This is much easier than aging the wood and other parts. So how to do this? First, you must have the following:

-          Muriatic acid

-          Plastic container with a lid

-          Ventilation

-          Mask

-          Rubber gloves

Be careful when you do this, muriatic acid is harmful as hell.

  1. First, remove the tuners and the bridge of the guitar from it. Remove all moving parts, especially screws. You must aged it separately or else risk molding it together permanently.
  2. Place them individually on the muriatic acid on the plastic container.
  3. Poke holes on the lid to allow air to go out.
  4. Cover the container with plastic to keep the vapors from going out. The more vapor, the faster it ages.
  5. Keep watch of the process. the usual duration is 2 days on you will see results. When you feel that it aged enough already, remove them from the acid. Wear gloves and mask.
  6. Rinse and dry the parts or allow it to dry under the sun. re place your parts when it is dry and you will have hardware that would look like it was used years ago.

Guitar War Fare

Get your gears ready, your digital ready and whip out the sickest guitar solo or piece that you could execute, because it is time for WAR!

Anyway, I am talking about the new website from UK called Guitar Warfare which gathers all sorts of guitar players into one site to do battle. This is the first and the only website that features guitar battles and live voting to see who the better axe man is. There are also league tables for different skill categories that give the competition a twist of fun and would definite encourage learning. this would be the first time that the internet gave us guitar players a place in which there are only other guitar players, where you could also customize your page profile and where you could upload your videos to have fun, enjoying real time league tables.

Guitar warfare was created because of the growing number of guitar videos on YouTube and other guitar sites that receives lousy comments and stuff. Now, you can stop moaning about how good you are and actually expose your talent to other guitar players from all over the world and prove them how good you are. So, for all the guitarists who are about to rock, I salute you!

Discomfort

Sometimes when we play the guitar, there are certain parts that we consider difficult, and what we usually do is to avoid these “difficult” parts. Although it is an effective excuse not to make mistakes, this would actually halt your progress. Avoiding difficult spots in your guitar playing will not help you improve it. The only way to deal with this is to confront it. The more you confront it, the more you would get used to it. Besides, it is all about getting used to it. Want to memorize the scales? Get used to it. Give it a run every day until you get used to it. That is the most effective way of memorizing things, doing it over and over again until it becomes part of your system. Do you sometimes get surprised when you actually know the lyrics to an old song? That is because you have heard it over and over for a long time, maybe in your childhood. That pretty much works with guitar playing as well. That is why if you do routines, do it over and over again, you will get used to it, making it part of your system and eventually, you can do it effortlessly.

Not all lessons are great, not all lessons are effective in bringing the best out of you. Other Chords That You Could Use For Metal

Metal guitar playing has a rather different type of method compared to pop or rock or even blues. Guitars, the lead guitar and the rhythm must have a thick tone; the thickness of the texture of your guitar tone can only be achieved through proper use of chords. The thing with chords is, the more notes that you have in a note, the rougher it sounds with a large amount of distortion to it. And that is not good for metal people. Metal require a solid grinding distortion and most of the time, it only works with power chords. However, it will never hurt to experiment a little on this. There other chords that you could experiment with. Like for example, the triad chords, a combination of three notes. Common triad chords are G Major, C Major, G Minor and A Minor. These are the basic, and you are pretty familiar with these. Using these on metal music might be disastrous but with the right approach, you could create epic riffs. It’s all about when and where you would sneak it in. for example, you have this heavy power chord based riff, then try sneaking a triad chord briefly, it would sound great.
