Harmonization is a concept. It is playing a certain lick and then adding another lick or melody on top of it, but it should be in sync with the melody. The best way is to add a diatonic third to it.  Here is an example:

Then, to add the diatonic third on the top of the existing melody, play these notes.
E –12–10–8—————————————
